How it works

Therapy is less mysterious than it looks from the waiting room.

Here’s exactly what happens, from the first message to the last session — so the only unknown left is what you want to talk about.

  1. 01

    A free intro call

We start with twenty minutes on the phone — no cost, no pressure. You can ask anything, and we both get a sense of whether we’re a good fit. If we’re not, I’ll gladly point you to someone who is.

  2. 02

    Your first session

The first session is mostly listening. You bring what’s on your mind; I help you find where to begin. There’s nothing to prepare and no right way to do it.

  3. 03

    A weekly rhythm

Most people come at the same time each week — the consistency is part of what helps. We meet for 50 minutes, in person or online.

  4. 04

    Reviewing together

Every few weeks we step back and look at how things are going. There’s no fixed course length; you stay for as long as it’s useful and you decide when to finish.

Questions people ask first

How much does it cost?
Sessions are £70 for 50 minutes. The first 20-minute intro call is free. I keep a small number of lower-cost places for people who couldn’t otherwise afford therapy — just ask.
Is it really confidential?
Yes. What you say stays between us, with the rare, legal exceptions any therapist must observe (a serious risk to life). I’ll explain those clearly in our first session.
In person or online?
Both. In person in Stoke Newington, north London, or over secure video anywhere in the UK. Many people mix the two.
What kind of therapy is it?
I’m integrative, which means I draw on several approaches — person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT — and shape the work around you rather than the other way round.
How long will I need to come?
There’s no set answer. Some people come for a handful of sessions around a specific difficulty; others stay longer to work at something deeper. You’re never locked in.
